Colaiste Ide  is a small all-Irish girls’ boarding school where they make every girl feel important, they value good manners and they care about every girl’s success. The school was originally established in 1927, and was run by the Sisters of Mercy until 1996. Coláiste Íde is now run by Cairde Choláiste Íde Teoranta, a charitable trust.

Their full capacity is 130 girls - which, for parents, must be a significant plus. The education at Coláiste Íde is through Irish and this has many advantages; supporters of bilingual tuition say it gives students strong cognitive advantages, greater problem-solving ability and higher literacy levels.
The school is housed in an elegant Georgian home on the shores of Dingle Bay. Every time you look out a window at Coláiste Íde you are greeted by stunning views of sea, sky and mountains. With a total of 107 acres of land, 54 acres of which is woodland, on the edge of the Atlantic ocean it is without a doubt a healthy, safe and spiritually uplifting environment for young girls to be educated.

Blackrock College, known originally as the French College, Blackrock, was founded in 1860 by Père Jules Leman CSSp and his French companions. They had a dual aim, namely to train personnel for missionary service in the Third World and provide a first class Catholic education for Irish boys. In response to changing circumstances, a highly successful Civil Service training department and university college were established and flourished for some forty years in the Castle. From the start, sport was promoted as an integral part of a balanced formation. Excellence in a broad spectrum of sport was encouraged.

St. Columba’s College is one of Ireland’s leading secondary schools and is particularly specialised in the provision of a high-quality boarding education for its pupils. Founded in 1843, and combining the best of traditional and modern architecture, the College occupies nearly 150 acres in the foothills of the Dublin mountains, overlooking Dublin Bay. Although the grounds have a rural ‘feel’, the College is only seven miles from the city centre and 30 minutes from the airport and principal rail and bus stations. With 300 boys and girls divided into seven Houses, they believe strongly in the virtues of being small. This extends to their classrooms where there is an average of 15 pupils in Forms I - III and 10 in Forms IV - VI. Their code of behaviour requires discipline on the part of their pupils but it is fair and, more important, agreed by all. They believe that being busy and stimulated in their daily lives is the best form of discipline and they stress the values of community respect and support for one another. Their academic results are outstanding by any measure and the vast majority of their pupils continue their education at universities in Ireland, the UK and further afield.

Newtown School was founded in 1798 by the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). The ideals of its founders still inspire the School which today educates boys and girls for life in the 21st century. Newtown School welcomes boarding and day students of all religious persuasions, and appreciates the contribution of all denominations to the school community. The school aims to foster a sense of caring for others and to communicate a set of values which reflects a balance between the material and the spiritual. In keeping with the Quaker tradition every individual is of value and has something to contribute. Newtown School promotes these ideals and, while rules are kept to a minimum, high standards of behaviour are expected and students are encouraged in a supportive and caring environment to fulfil these expectations.

Newtown School is a three weekly boarding school in that every three weeks (mid-terms and bank holidays permitting) all boarders go home on a Friday afternoon and return on a Sunday evening. We call this a long weekend. By special permission, some boarders elect to become weekly boarders, going home after study on Saturday and returning Sunday evening.
